Thank you for your interest in the bus trip to Washington, D.C. We have reached capacity for seating on the bus. We will not be taking names for a waiting list. 

 

Join the UT Retirees Association for a bus trip to Washington, D.C. from Aug. 3 - 7. You and a guest are invited to spend five days and four nights with fellow retirees, touring our nation's capital.


The trip includes luxury motorcoach transportation; lodging for four nights; four breakfasts; four dinners; guided tours of multiple memorials and historic sites; one full day at the Smithsonian Institution; and a tram ride through Arlington National Cemetery. Please be aware that the trip, especially the tours, will require extensive walking.


Trip Itinerary:
Friday, Aug. 3
Depart the UT Scott Park Campus (2201 Nebraska Ave., Toledo 43607, Parking Area 21) in a spacious motorcoach, equipped with video and a restroom. Later that day, enjoy dinner and check into your hotel for a four-night stay.

Saturday, Aug. 4
A continental breakfast will be available before departing for a full-day guided tour of some awe-inspiring sites of the capital. The tour includes the Capitol Building, White House, National Archives Building, Embassy Row and Georgetown. During the day, you'll see the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial and several war memorials. In the evening, dinner will be at a local restaurant before continuing with the tour.

Sunday, Aug. 5
Your morning will begin with a continental breakfast before you head to the Smithsonian Institution for the day for a self-guided tour. The Smithsonian is the world's largest museum, education and research complex, with 19 museums and the National Zoo.

Monday, Aug. 6
After a continental breakfast, you will depart for a guided tour of poignant and inspirational sights, such as Arlington National Cemetery, including the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, President John F. Kennedy gravesite, as well as the Marine Corps War Memorial (Iwo Jima Memorial). Another visit to the Smithsonian Institution will end the afternoon activities before dinner and the return to the hotel.

Tuesday, Aug. 7
You will depart for Toledo after a continental breakfast. This is the perfect time to share stories about the trip with your fellow UTRA members!
