The University of Toledo Alumni Travel Program works closely with our tour operator to ensure you feel well-prepared and can truly immerse yourself in your trip. Here’s a list of important travel tips and logistical information to help you pack and prepare for your next adventure:
Clothing
- It is always best to dress in layers.
- Our tours are often casual and do not require evening attire or a jacket for men.
- Some tours have recommended attire (such as safari). If so, the tour operator will provide recommendations in their documents.
- The tour director can let you know which hotels have laundry service if you need to launder clothes while on tour.
Currancy and Banking
- The preferred currency should be included in the preliminary information you receive from the tour operator.
- Exchanging in-country will get the best exchange rate. ATMs are common and can often be found at the airport before you transfer to your hotel.
- Credit cards are widely accepted, but local currency may be needed for small shops and markets.
- While most don’t require it, it’s always smart to inform your bank and your credit card companies that you will be traveling out of the country.
Plug Adaptors
- Many foreign countries require adaptors to plug in electronics.
- Not all countries use the same adaptors. Research what sort of plugs the country you are going to has before purchasing.
