Join The UToledo Retirees Association for a captivating journey into Toledo’s colorful past, where gangsters and law enforcement once clashed in dramatic fashion. Our guide for this historical adventure is none other than Tedd Long, chief storyteller and curator of Holy Toledo History.
Tedd will take us deep into the stories that shaped our city—tales of crime, justice, and the characters who left their mark on Toledo’s streets. Don’t miss this opportunity to explore the hidden history of our hometown through vivid storytelling and rich local lore.
Step into the shadowy world of 1930s Toledo, a time of G-Men, speakeasies, and infamous gangsters like Pretty Boy Floyd, Baby Face Nelson, and Machine Gun Kelly. Brace yourself for the gripping tale of Thomas Yonnie Licavoli and his Detroit mob, who descended upon Toledo in 1931, leaving a trail of violence unlike anything the city had seen before, 14 murders in just 36 months. Historian Tedd Long will take us on a journey back in time to Toledo's darkest days, when the Tenderloin district rivaled the city's gambling halls in notoriety.
The event will take place in the Center for Alumni and Donor Engagement, located at 4510 Dorr St., Toledo, OH 43615. Contact the Office of Alumni Engagment and Annual Giving for questions or to make a reservation over the phone at 419.530.2586.
