The Inaugural Don Kotnik Golf Challenge will be a day of friendly competition in support of The University of Toledo’s Varsity Men’s and Women’s Division I Golf Programs. The challenge will have a 1 p.m. shotgun start.
A 1966 graduate from UT, Don Kotnik was an all-around athlete. He was a center, guard and middle linebacker on the Rocket football team from 1962-1965, and played on the golf team during the 1965-66 season. He became the second Head Professional at Toledo Country Club in 1972, where he remained until his retirement in 2014. Don also was teh UT Men's gold coach at Toledo for 17 winning seasons.
Don received numerous awards including the Burt Silverman Award from the TDGA, six Horton Smith awards, and was awarded PGA Professional of the Year in 1993. He is a Master PGA Professional, and has been inducted into seven different Hall of Fames.
